If you've been thinking about opening an account with FedStar Credit Union, there's never been a better time! We've recently expanded our field of membership, allowing us to serve anyone who lives, works, attends school or church within a ten mile radius of our office. In addition, we still serve our original select employee group*: federal employees who live, work, or are supervised from Brazos County.
We welcome anyone who lives, works, goes to school or worships in the Bryan and College Station area and any immediate family members of existing FedStar Credit Union members.
By current federal statute, credit unions cannot serve the general public. People qualify for a credit union membership through their employer, organizational affiliations like churches or social groups, or as part of a community-chartered credit union.
Credit unions are an economic democracy. Each credit union member has equal ownership and one vote - regardless of how much money a member has on deposit. At a credit union, every customer is both a member and an owner.
*If you're an employer with a business located in the Bryan/College Station area, and would like to know more about becoming a FedStar Credit Union Select Employee Group and the benefits this would provide your employees, please give us a call today.
If you're interested in becoming a FedStar member, a Member Service Representative is ready to help you! To open an account, or to request more information, visit our branch, call, or email us, and we'll walk you through the process.
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. For you, this means we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will also ask you to provide the following forms of identification when opening an account:
A copy of your valid state issued Driver's License
A copy of one other form of identification, such as your Social Security Card, a student or worker ID, valid credit card, birth certificate, military or other government ID, etc.
Once you become a member of FedStar, you're considered a member for life. Changing jobs, relocating, or retiring does not affect your membership status.
